Sound Go Round
Artist:
Dressy Bessy
Label: Track
& Field
You’ll struggle to
find any pop music purer than this. Every song is wrapped up in
sugary sweet tunes and the infectious chirruping of female vocalist
Tammy Easlom. The guitarist, John Hill, carries across the sound of
his other band The Apples In Stereo to Dressy Bessy and the guitars
chime and fuzz perfectly.
From the off we are
treated to a fine candy coated track ‘I Am Cinnamon’, which will
remain ringing in your head for hours after you hear it whether you
like it or not. This pattern carries on with other fantastic tunes
such as ‘There’s A Girl’ and ‘Buttercups’, all stamped with the
trademark riotous pop, with all the jingles and the jangles in the
appropriate places.
Perhaps overly twee
for some, maybe just a tad too girly for those hardened macho indie
kids. Even so, they are the perfect band for the summer. Take this
record to a picnic kids, you’ll not regret it. Dressy Bessy are pop.
