Live: Sureal + The
Saved + Eclipse @ The Town Mill, Mansfield, Fri Jan 17th
A gig’s headlining attraction will never mind a second-rate band
supporting them. After all, they can’t make them look any worse. Ladies and
Gentlemen, I introduce Eclipse.
The Saved,
next on, supplied a good slice of indie-rock, with fast guitars and raspy
vocals, almost Brian Molko-ish in places. Reminiscent of early Blur and faster
Shed 7, The Saved delivered an eclectic tightly played set. More please!
Fast, punky rock action was eagerly provided by Sureal.
And that’s about all they delivered, over and over again. That’s not to say
fast, punky rock isn’t good, but when each song sounds the same it’s time to for
a rethink. But I must admit Sureal did get most of the (ever-decreasing)
audience to dance about. Whether that’s because the music or the alcohol had
taken hold is another matter.
